Financial Planning and Analysis Manager

Position Summary
he Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager is a strategic leader who drives financial excellence at the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County (CFTH). This senior-level role is responsible for shaping CFTH's financial strategy, overseeing both internal financial operations and grant-related activities, including government and private grants. The FP&A Manager leads budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, and is cross-trained to support both Finance and Grants Operations, ensuring the organization's resources are maximized to further our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multi-year financial planning and forecasting, including grant revenue projections, using data-driven assumptions.
- Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and deliver actionable recommendations to improve outcomes.
- Partner with departments to enhance business performance through insightful financial analysis.
- Serve as a key liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including grantors, auditors, and program teams.
- Maintain expertise in nonprofit accounting standards, grant compliance, and financial best practices.
- Develop robust budgets and forecasts in collaboration with Finance and departmental leaders; explain variances and implement strategies to optimize financial results.
- Ensure compliance with grant contract requirements, donor restrictions, regulations, and OMB guidelines; recommend internal adjustments and budget revisions to maximize funding.
- Prepare and coordinate financial and programmatic reports to meet grant requirements, working closely with program and development staff.
- Conduct monthly budget-to-actual analyses, making necessary adjustments to manage grant funding effectively.
- Collaborate with the Director of Grants and Finance Manager on grant reporting and analysis for senior management and board presentations.
- Support the Finance Manager during annual audits, with a focus on documentation for the single audit.
- Interpret complex grant funding requirements, submissions, and budget projections to ensure organizational compliance and financial sustainability.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in nonprofit financial management, including federal grants.
- At least 2 years of direct leadership experience.
- Proficiency in Sage Intact, Abila Fund Accounting or similar platforms
- Strong skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, solve complex problems, and influence outcomes.
