Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices, and maintaining financial records in compliance with GAAP. This role requires proficiency in various accounting software and strong analytical skills to support our financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Process and review invoices for accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Perform account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger accounting records.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities.
  • Ensure adherence to SOX compliance requirements throughout the accounts payable process.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Paychex, or Workday for data entry and reporting.
  • Collaborate with HR for benefits administration and payroll management as needed.
  • Conduct analysis of accounts payable metrics to identify trends and improve processes.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation related to accounts payable transactions.

Experience

  • Proven experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role, preferably in public accounting or corporate accounting settings.
  • Familiarity with financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and account reconciliation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, PeopleSoft, UltiPro, Ceridian, or Kronos is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data effectively.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and payroll processing is a plus.
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting or non-profit accounting principles is advantageous.
  • Excellent data entry skills with a focus on accuracy (10 key typing experience preferred).
