Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will work under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist to support individuals with communication disorders. This role is essential in helping clients improve their speech and language skills, particularly in pediatric settings. The SLPA will engage with children and students, implementing therapy plans and assisting in the development of communication abilities.

Duties

  • Assist the Speech-Language Pathologist in implementing individualized treatment plans for clients.
  • Conduct therapy sessions focusing on speech, language, and communication skills under supervision.
  • Support children with special needs in various settings, including schools and acute care environments.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate records of therapy sessions.
  • Collaborate with educators and parents to facilitate effective communication strategies.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss client progress and adapt treatment plans as necessary.
  • Provide early intervention services to children demonstrating speech or language delays.
  • Assist in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students requiring special education services.

Skills

  • Experience working with children, particularly in a pediatric and Telehealth setting.
  • Knowledge of speech therapy techniques and methodologies.
  • Understanding of medical terminology related to speech-language pathology.
  • Familiarity with anatomy and physiology as it pertains to speech and language functions.
  • Ability to implement early intervention strategies effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members.
