DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team. This is an opportunity to steer the future of music and podcasts as you unleash our teams to deliver innovative experiences that are used by millions of Amazon Music customers. As Senior Technical Program Manager for AI/ML products, you will partner with business stakeholders and work closely with product, design, science and engineering teams to implement strategy and execution. You will work across multiple platforms (Android, iOS, Web, backend services) steering product design and implementation decisions. You will collaborate with the product teams to deliver the best solutions with efficient use of resources and technologies. You will make strong business cases for project prioritization and investment. You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs, balance the business needs versus technical constraints and inspire risk-taking behavior to maximize business benefit. You will navigate service interdependencies and lead cross-functional teams towards technical solutions for multi-tiered systems. You will work through complex and ambiguous challenges with a large number of teams to deliver on your projects. Key job responsibilities

  • Facilitating and orchestrating complex programs across different organizations, teams, and functions
  • Leading agile design, engineering and science teams through complex technical implementations
  • Managing complex feature launches, experiments and cross-functional product programs from start to finish
  • Delivering highly calibrated technical writing and executive level communications
  • Evaluating risks, prioritizing mitigation efforts, and making strategic trade-offs
  • Driving continuous process improvements to optimize product delivery
  • Mentoring junior employees and helping build effective teams

A day in the life

This high visibility role will require senior leadership communication and influencing while working with stakeholders across multiple organizations. You will regularly deep dive issues to determine the root cause and partner with stakeholders for resolution, including the right stakeholders as needed. This role has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon Music and requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. You will successfully represent the technical team to senior leadership and partners, and coordinate, prioritize and deliver to an ambitious roadmap. You will manage end-to-end projects, often managing multiple projects/programs at once, while demonstrating high judgement, clear communication, creative approaches, the ability to think big, and a consistent track record of delivering results.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
  • Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
  • Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
  • Experience with AI/ML technologies
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
