Assistant Maintenance Manager

The Assistant Maintenance Manager will help the Maintenance Manager oversee and manage all aspects of the maintenance department including, but not limited to, maintaining equipment, maintaining building and grounds, parts purchasing and inventory, maintenance budgets, capital project management, mechanic training and development, maintenance, hiring, work scheduling and follow up inspections, predictive and preventative maintenance program management, and inter-department communications.

In this role, you will:

• Follow up on preventative maintenance, work orders, and emergency repairs to
• ensure they are being done correctly.
• Work closely with production to make sure their needs are met.
• Collaborate with sanitation to make sure scheduled shutdowns are effective for both departments.
• Schedule and plan for work to be done during normal shutdowns.
• Organize and maintain a proper parts inventory as well as oversee all maintenance, purchasing and contractors.
• Facilitate training programs for all maintenance employees.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems on automated equipment.
• Enforce food safety requirements as they pertain to maintenance.
• Manage and follow up on all safety programs and related training.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, that is a primarily hands-on position rather than a desk position.
• Assist in any breakdowns and floor calls as needed.
• Available to be on call off hours for trouble shooting from remote and on-site as necessary.
• Willing and available to work different shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of three years' experience as a maintenance mechanic.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical skills.
• Electrical troubleshooting ability, preferred.
• Work standing up for hours at a time, and in hot environments.

Essential Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time during a shift, maintaining a normal range of motion in all extremities.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, and push and pull heavy wheeled equipment or carts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and crouch to access equipment, tools, or materials.
• Ability to use arms, hands and fingers to handle or operate machinery, tools or controls.
• Ability to perceive and respond immediately to visual and audible safety alerts and warnings to ensure the safety of self and others in a fast-paced, hazard-sensitive environment with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and airborne particles, odors and fumes.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work platforms as required by the position.
• Ability to sit for prolonged periods using office equipment and computer systems.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective clothing for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
