Training Solutions Research Scientist, AWS Training and Certification

A T&C Research Scientist will have deep industry knowledge, leverage technology (AI/ML tools), analyze data, experiment, stay current with trends, identify opportunities, aid in product and strategy development, and provide insights for T&C around the science of learning and what is coming. The role requires extending existing scientific techniques and inventing new ones to understand how learners learn and how learning evolves. You will envision new ways to solve customer problems, create innovative experiences, and enable organizations to solve business problems through upskilling their workforce.
The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and cross-functional teams. A successful candidate will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, with strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You should be comfortable working semi-autonomously on difficult problems with visible risks or roadblocks. You'll maintain high standards while moving quickly, prioritizing both rapid experimentation and responsible development to deliver measurable customer impact. The work will challenge you to be resourceful, think big while staying connected to the details, translate research, data, and advanced analytics into strategic direction, and embrace a high degree of change and speed. The scope and scale of what we strive to achieve is immense, but it is also meaningful and energizing. Candidates should have end-to-end experience conducting research, as well as advanced modeling skills to uncover perception drivers. They have proficiency in diving deep into large amounts of data and translating research into actionable insights/recommendations.

Key job responsibilities
- Engage in discussions with teams to ensure research generates actionable and findings.
- Apply your expertise in scientific research and analysis to design, experiment, and conduct scalable research projects that address opportunities in learning and credentialing for international audiences.
- Identify opportunities to simplify existing research processes and operate more nimbly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, business, product, and others to define requirements, establish success metrics, and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Use statistical methodologies to understand relationships between key metrics and other related measures (e.g., regression, structural equation modeling, etc.).
- Conduct thorough data analysis to gain insights, identify patterns, and drive actionable recommendations that enhance T&C operational performances and customer experiences.
- Continuously explore/evaluate emerging methodologies to improve the accuracy and efficiency of research.
- Analyze performance of methods and models, iteratively improving them based on quantitative metrics and feedback.
- Communicate concepts and findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing clear explanations and guidance on opportunities and their potential impact.

You will be responsible for conducting end-to-end research, as well as leveraging modeling skills to uncover drivers. You dive deep into large amounts of data and translate research into actionable insights/recommendations.

Basic Qualifications:
- Master's degree or above in a quantitative field
- 1+ years of quantitative field research experience
- Experience investigating the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products
- Experience with data analysis package (R, SAS, Matlab, etc.)
- Experience using SQL databases to manage and analyze large data sets
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in operations research, applied mathematics, theoretical computer science, or equivalent
- Experience applying forecasting and data mining techniques
- Knowledge of machine learning processing: computer vision, NLU, NLP or operations research
- Knowledge of statistics and probability

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $113,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
