Within the practice, the Energy Advisory group focuses on addressing the rapidly growing demand for energy and infrastructure solutions. This group helps clients effectively source energy contracts, improve on-site performance, and optimize energy assets as they adopt new technologies and business models.

Our client is seeking a Senior Director, Energy Origination to lead power purchase agreement (PPA) advisory and execution services. In this high-impact role, you will originate, negotiate, and structure PPAs with a variety of counterparties including commercial and industrial customers, data centers, developers, and investors in distributed and utility-scale generation projects. You will play a key role in driving transactions, cultivating relationships, and expanding market presence across the renewable energy landscape.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic vision and growth of the energy origination and transaction services business line, developing multi-year growth plans and representing the firm at industry events and executive client engagements.
• Partner with internal sales and advisory teams to advise, negotiate, and secure power contracts for a diverse commercial and industrial client base across sectors such as data centers, manufacturing, and logistics.
• Develop and structure innovative deals that support project financing, reduce price volatility, and optimize contracting terms for front-of-meter and behind-the-meter energy generation and storage projects.
• Manage end-to-end PPA advisory engagements, from early-stage proposals to post-execution support, overseeing key project milestones with developers, offtakers, and investors.
• Provide risk assessments, market insights, and power modeling expertise to internal teams and clients, supporting generation, storage, refinancing, and contract renewal opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with utilities, banks, renewable developers, independent power producers, and investors to expand deal flow and identify new opportunities.
• Evaluate portfolio opportunities for aggregated PPA demand, strategic transactions, and partnerships.
• Monitor PPA market trends, pricing, and regulatory developments to proactively identify client opportunities and maintain competitive advantage.
• Identify and develop new product offerings, including energy hedging, brokerage, and retail supply advisory services.
• Direct cross-functional teams spanning finance, legal, regulatory, and engineering disciplines to deliver integrated energy solutions.
• Oversee P&L and growth strategy for the origination business line, targeting significant year-over-year expansion and market share gains.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in business, engineering, sustainability, finance, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in energy origination, management, or advisory roles, with proven experience in PPA transactions.
• Strong commercial acumen and a track record of identifying and executing energy deals.
• Deep understanding of utility and power market dynamics in both regulated and deregulated environments.
• Familiarity with renewables, energy storage, over-the-counter forward markets, and wholesale power markets.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships across organizational levels.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Willingness to travel as required.
