We are seeking a dependable, proactive Tax Specialist to join our team for the upcoming tax season. This seasonal role will support day-to-day operations, assist clients, and prepare individual tax returns. It's ideal for someone who is confident preparing returns, comfortable interacting with clients, and able to manage a mix of administrative, client-facing, and technical tax work.

While this position is seasonal, there is potential for contract-to-hire based on performance, reliability, and business needs. The role begins with hands-on support and return preparation, with opportunities to take on broader responsibilities as you demonstrate your strengths and interest areas. We are looking for someone who is committed to providing excellent service during tax season and who may be interested in long-term growth with our firm.

Duties

  • Answer phone calls, assist clients, and help convert inquiries into appointments
  • Prepare accurate 1040 returns, including Schedules C and E
  • Explain basic tax concepts in simple, client-friendly language
  • Work independently and maintain reliable in-office availability
  • Learn and use tax software
  • Support general office and administrative tasks

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of hands-on 1040 preparation experience
  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Accounting, Tax, or Business preferred
  • Strong communication skills and confidence speaking with clients in person and over the phone
  • Working knowledge of tax laws and basic tax concepts
  • Reliable, professional, and able to work independently during regular business hours
  • Ability to learn and use new tax software
  • Experience in Drake or TaxDome is a plus
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
