Position Overview

AgriCapture is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Intern
to join our growing team. This position offers hands-on experience in geospatial data management, spatial analysis, and remote sensing applications that directly support AgriCapture's mission.

As a GIS Intern, you will work closely with our GIS and project teams to assist with
data creation, spatial rendering, and analysis
aligned with company goals. You will gain exposure to multiple facets of GIS, from raw data collection and cleaning to visualization and remote sensing analysis; all while learning how geospatial tools support sustainable agriculture and carbon reduction efforts.

This is a
learning-focused, part-time internship
designed for students currently pursuing a degree and interested in applying classroom knowledge to real-world environmental data challenges.

Objectives of the Role

  • Assist in identifying, collecting, and cleaning spatial and resource input/output data
  • Support the creation and maintenance of project field boundary data
  • Develop clear and visually appealing maps and geospatial graphics for internal and external use
  • Contribute to remote sensing analyses that help verify agricultural practices across project sites

Responsibilities

  • Help prepare and manipulate spatial data from various sources
  • Conduct basic spatial analysis on agricultural lands for project eligibility and tracking
  • Assist with the production of maps, dashboards, and data visualizations
  • Collaborate across departments to integrate geospatial insights into project workflows
  • Support technical writing, documentation, and quality control of spatial data

Skills and Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Completion of at least 2 GIS-related courses
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro and/or ESRI applications
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and willingness to learn new tools and workflows

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to open-source GIS software (e.g., QGIS, Google Earth Engine, GRASS)
  • Coursework or experience in remote sensing or Python/R/JavaScript for spatial analysis
  • Interest in agriculture, sustainability, or natural resource management
