Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated
Senior Production Engineer
to join our growing team. With over 50 years of excellence in high-quality architectural millwork, we specialize in creating exceptional commercial spaces throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. In this leadership-oriented role, you will act as both a hands-on engineer and a mentor, driving accuracy, efficiency, and innovation in all aspects of production engineering. You will lead the development of 3D Cabinet Vision models, improve processes, and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the subject matter expert within a team of 3–5 engineers, guiding the development of
    3D Cabinet Vision models
    and associated fabrication documentation.
  • Lead the creation and management of new catalog items, standards, and templates.
  • Coach and train junior engineers to enhance skill development, efficiency, and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the
    Engineering Manager
    to schedule and prioritize production work orders.
  • Conduct periodic audits of standards, practices, and libraries to maintain current and efficient workflows.
  • Assist in developing and managing
    outsourcing partnerships
    for Cabinet Vision modeling (submittals or production).
  • Work closely with the
    Quality Control Coordinator
    to ensure alignment between engineering, drafting, and production teams.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline coordination, increase throughput, and strengthen cross-department communication.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance in this role will be evaluated based on:

  • Work order throughput:
    Managing and processing projects totaling approximately
    $4 million
    in annual revenue, exceeding standard engineer output expectations.
  • Gross margin contribution:
    Meeting or surpassing efficiency targets based on planned vs. actual hours.
  • Engineering accuracy:
    Reducing the number of shop issues identified post-engineering.
  • Process efficiency:
    Improving departmental throughput through workflow optimization and successful outsourcing initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Need experience
    with
    Cabinet Vision
    in the
    architectural millwork
    or related industry.
  • Strong understanding of
    materials, machining, and tooling limitations
    .
  • Proven track record of collaborating effectively with
    Project Managers
    and
    Production Managers
    to resolve design and manufacturing challenges.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities — able to inspire, train, and guide team members while leading by example.
  • Experience with
    Cabinet Vision submittals
    and exposure to additional platforms (e.g.,
    Rhino
    ,
    SolidWorks
    ) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with
    AWI standards and specifications
    .
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficiency in
    MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    .
  • Knowledge of
    Innergy
    software is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
