Role Overview:

We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with expertise in DataDog Monitoring to manage, configure, and optimize monitoring solutions for Java-based applications on Linux (Red Hat) platforms. The role involves infrastructure monitoring, network monitoring, log management, and automation using scripting tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • DataDog Administration: Install, configure, and maintain DataDog APM on Linux for Java applications on Tomcat/WebSphere.
  • Infrastructure & Network Monitoring: Monitor Linux, Windows, AIX servers, network components (switches, routers, F5 Load Balancers), and applications using SNMP, CloudBeat, and BigPanda.
  • Log Management: Centralized logging using ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) and routing logs from WebSphere/Tomcat to DataDog.
  • Dashboard & Alerts: Create custom dashboards, health rules, and alerts in DataDog for real-time system monitoring.
  • Automation & Scripting: Write scripts in Python, Shell, Ansible, and Selenium for Synthetic Monitoring with CloudBeat.
  • Security & Compliance: Manage SSL certificates, encryption, and security configurations on Linux servers.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Analyze system performance issues, identify root causes, and propose solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with DataDog administration (APM, dashboards, alerts).
  • Experience with ELK Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for log management.
  • Strong expertise in Linux (Red Hat), SSL certificates, and networking (SNMP, Load Balancers, VPNs, TCP/IP).
  • Automation experience with Python, Shell scripting, and Ansible.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles, SLAs, and monitoring best practices.
  • Familiarity with SQL, DB2, and monitoring Java applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with SAFe Agile methodologies and ITIL v3 certification (preferred).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with BigPanda, CloudBeat (Synthetic Monitoring), and VuGen scripting.
  • Knowledge of network components like Palo Alto, WebSeal, Gigamon, and Info Blocks.
