Overview
The Distributor Development Manager will lead efforts to identify, recruit, onboard, and grow relationships with regional and national distributors to exclusively carry our Bastech BFRP rebar and related composite reinforcement products. This role requires a balance of technical understanding, relationship management, and business development expertise to build a sustainable, high-performing distribution channel for Basalt Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify high-potential distributors across priority, precast, and residential construction).
Develop and execute a distributor acquisition plan targeting strategic geographic and industry coverage.
- Negotiate distribution agreements and coordinate legal, credit, and operational onboarding processes.
- Collaborate with marketing to create tailored presentations, sales kits, and training materials for distributor partners.
Sales Growth and Channel Management
- Set and achieve distributor sales targets, product mix goals, and margin objectives.
- Work closely with distributors' sales teams to provide product knowledge, project-specific guidance, and technical support.
- Manage pipeline and forecasting within CRM; report regularly on distributor performance and opportunities.
- Participate in joint sales calls with distributors to engineers, contractors, and owners.
Training and Market Enablement
- Conduct ongoing training on Basalt FRP's features, advantages, testing standards, and installation methods.
- Support distributors in understanding the regulatory and engineering environment
- Collaborate with marketing to deliver educational content (videos, webinars, spec sheets, etc.) tailored for the distributor network.
Market Intelligence and Strategy
- Gather competitive intelligence on FRP manufacturers, pricing, and market adoption trends.
- Provide feedback to leadership on product performance, customer needs, and emerging opportunities.
- Assist in refining go-to-market strategies for emerging verticals such as precast and modular construction.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years in channel/distributor sales, preferably within construction materials, concrete reinforcement, or engineered composites.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Skills
- Proven track record in recruiting and managing distributors.
- Strong technical sales and presentation skills.
- Excellent negotiation and interpersonal communication.
- Familiarity with CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).
- Ability to travel 40–60% domestically.
Performance Metrics
- Distributor sign-ups and revenue growth by region.
- Distributor sales volume and retention rate.
- Market penetration in target verticals (transportation, precast, residential, commercial).
- Successful distributor-led project wins.
