We are seeking a
QA Lead
with deep expertise in
embedded systems testing
to drive quality strategy, execution, and continuous improvement across complex hardware–software platforms. The ideal candidate has hands-on technical experience testing embedded and IoT systems and proven ability to lead test planning, risk assessment, and collaboration across development and hardware teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead quality assurance activities for embedded and connected systems such as HVAC controllers, set-top boxes, telecommunications equipment (routers, modems, switches), industrial automation, robotics, and avionics systems.
  • Define and execute end-to-end test strategies, including integration, regression, and performance testing.
  • Analyze system, application, and event logs to identify and diagnose software, firmware, and communication issues.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, and hardware engineering teams to ensure defects are isolated, documented, and resolved efficiently.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate test cases using shell scripting and Unix command-line tools.
  • Validate backend communication protocols (APIs, web services, IoT message brokers) and ensure seamless data exchange between devices and cloud services.
  • Monitor and report on QA metrics, ensuring visibility into quality trends, risks, and release readiness.
  • Mentor and guide junior testers, fostering best practices in documentation, process discipline, and automation adoption.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience testing embedded systems, IoT devices, or similar environments integrating hardware and software.
  • Expertise with Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting and command-line tools.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java (preferred), Python, or C/C++.
  • In-depth knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), QA methodologies, and defect management processes.
  • Experience testing backend integrations, APIs, and communication protocols for device connectivity.
  • Proven ability to analyze logs, identify system bottlenecks, and propose corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical mindset, detail orientation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and lead cross-functional QA initiatives.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in regulated or safety-critical domains (automotive, robotics, aerospace).
  • Understanding of performance and reliability testing methodologies.

The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $40.86/hour - $63.84/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
