Our team works directly with the military medical community at the Service, Combatant Command, Joint Staff, and DoD Headquarters Levels.

We are seeking an UI/UX Designer to join our Advanced Analytics team whose mission is to provide insights and solve problems in support of Navy Medicine's mission, force readiness, and health care management.

This team provides custom analytic findings and develops, maintains, and delivers decision support capability tools to the U.S. Navy operational medical community to include administrators and planners at Echelons I, II, and III. The primary objective of the role is to work directly with our customers to identify requirements, convert requirements into functioning designs, tools, and prototypes, and support the customer community in their use of the tools.

Position Summary
OASYS, INC. is seeking an UI/UX Designer to support Advanced Analytic efforts within the DoD Medical Enterprise. The candidate will work with customer subject matter experts, data scientists, business analysts, and data engineers to execute and maintain projects of executive interest. The candidate will work with leadership, managers, and technical staff across Navy Medicine. The candidate will work to understand business needs, provide internal and external advice on the development of projects and UI/UX designs while building relations and becoming a trusted advisor.

The candidate will participate in the planning and development of UI/UX aspects of automated data tools, dashboards, and other data-oriented tools that support executive-level decisions.
This is a hybrid remote work position with preference to reside within commuting distance of San Antonio, TX to support in person meetings.
Position may require frequent travel in support of customer requirements.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design & Visual Communication
  • Design intuitive, user-friendly interfaces, ensuring alignment with user needs and business goals. Many projects will be within Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Create visually compelling Power BI dashboards that enhance data storytelling and support decision-making.
  • Develop high-impact PowerPoint presentations using advanced slide design and visual storytelling techniques for executive audiences.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Work closely with data scientists, Microsoft Power Platform developers, and business stakeholders to translate complex data and workflows into clear, engaging designs.
  • Facilitate design discussions and incorporate feedback to refine and improve user experiences.
  • Tools & Prototyping
  • Utilize design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or like to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
  • Apply UX/UI best practices including layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, and accessibility standards.
  • Technical Awareness
  • Maintain familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to effectively communicate with developers and understand implementation constraints.
  • Ensure designs are feasible within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and align with platform capabilities.
  • User-Centered Design & Accessibility
  • Apply a user-centered design approach, with strong sensitivity to stakeholder goals and challenges.
  • Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and DoD design guidelines where applicable.

Education And/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required (master's preferred) in graphic design, human-computer interaction (HCI), digital media, computer science, or a related field.
  • 4 years (or 2 years with Master's) of experience in UX/UI design, with a focus on Microsoft 365 tools such as Power Apps, Power BI, and PowerPoint.

Core Design Skills

  • Strong grasp of UX/UI principles: layout, hierarchy, typography, color theory, and accessibility.
  • Experience designing within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including:

  • Power Apps: creating intuitive, user-friendly app interfaces.

  • Power BI: designing visually compelling dashboards that enhance data storytelling.
  • PowerPoint: advanced slide design and visual storytelling for executive-level presentations.

  • Optional certifications that demonstrate relevant expertise may include:

  • Certified UX Designer (e.g., Nielsen Norman Group, Human Factors International)

  • Adobe Certified Professional (Visual Design or UX Design)
  • Microsoft Certified: Power Platform App Maker Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate

  • Experience with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar.

  • Familiarity with front-end coding technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is preferred, but not required.

  • Comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback in a collaborative environment into thoughtful, intuitive design choices.
  • Successfully works independently with keen attention to detail.
  • Possess, or able to obtain and maintain, a SECRET security clearance.

  • Prior experience supporting Military Health System or other federal healthcare environments, including understanding of government or DoD design standards and accessibility requirements.

Citizenship Requirements
Due to classified work at the facility and related access restrictions, successful applicants must be U.S. citizens and must be able to gain and maintain a DOD Secret level clearance.
