Operations & Customer Support Coordinator (Part-Time to Start)

Location:
IN PERSON: Chula Vista, CA

Contract-to-Hire: First 90 days as a contractor, with opportunity for a raise and W-2 transition after evaluation.

We're Kay Scientific, a small but fast-moving team supporting customers in the scientific and healthcare space. We're looking for a resourceful Operations & Customer Support Coordinator who can step in, take initiative, and grow with us as we scale.

This is a hybrid role—part customer service, part operations, part admin—with a touch of hands-on logistics. It's perfect for someone who thrives in a startup environment where agility, curiosity, and a great attitude go a long way.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Customer & Phone Support

Be the friendly point of contact for our customers—answer incoming calls, respond to emails, and assist with order-related questions. No in-person desk or walk-in traffic

  • Order Fulfillment & Vendor Coordination

Help process and ship customer orders, receive inventory, place vendor orders, and support returns or exchanges.

  • Admin & Sales Support

Assist with managing leads in our CRM, sending invoices through QuickBooks, and staying on top of day-to-day administrative workflows.

  • Warehouse Assistance (Occasional)

Pitch in with packing small shipments or organizing inventory when needed—being hands-on is a plus.

A Note About the First 90 Days

Taking a page from Kevin O'Leary (aka "Mr. Wonderful" from Shark Tank), we believe in proving mutual fit first. The role will begin as a contractor for the first 90 days. This gives us both a chance to ensure it's the right long-term match. After that period, we'll review performance, with an opportunity to transition to W-2 employment and a potential raise.
