About the Role:
The Part-Time Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for creating and developing mechanical designs and drawings for ongoing projects. The role involves working independently or in coordination with the core design team to meet project deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy in all design deliverables.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Support design activities for new and existing products or machinery.
- Perform basic calculations and tolerance analysis.
- Update and modify existing designs as per client or production feedback.
- Coordinate with the full-time design team to ensure project alignment.
- Prepare and maintain documentation such as BOM, design reports, and revisions.
- Ensure all designs comply with company standards and safety regulations.
- Assist in prototype development and testing support when required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD /Solid Edge).
- Understanding of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Knowledge of GD&T and standard drafting practices.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines independently.
Qualification & Experience:
- Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 5-8 years in mechanical design (freelance or part-time experience acceptable).
- Preferred: Experience in fabrication, machinery, or product development projects.
