Job Overview

Join our team to support the Secretary of the Air Force Office of Small Business Programs (SAF/SB) at the Pentagon This 5-year contract provides critical technical and analytical support to help the Air Force maximize small-business participation in acquisitions, strengthen the Defense Industrial Base, and deliver innovative commercial solutions to the warfighter.

Location: The Pentagon, Arlington, VA (primarily onsite; limited telework)

Clearance Required: Active SECRET – must be fully adjudicated at time of award (no interim Secret accepted)

Position Title: Public Relations Specialist – Industrial Liaison / Strategic Outreach

Position Description: You will own all SAF/SB strategic communications, industry engagement, event planning, and executive support deliverables. Your work directly shapes how the Air Force is perceived by industry, Congress, OSD, and small-business owners nationwide.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Promote and create the intended public image for SAF/SB and the DAF small-business program through strategic messaging, media releases, newsletters, and social media
  • Plan, execute, and manage all SAF/SB outreach events, industry days, conferences, training workshops, and senior-leader speaking engagements
  • Develop and maintain the SAF/SB Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) in MS Project, Senior Engagement Tracking System entries, and the organization's calendar of events
  • Draft, coordinate, and obtain Director/Deputy Director approval for talking points, bullet background papers, read-aheads, speeches, and HAF/ES- and SAF/PA-approved briefings
  • Write and publish the quarterly SAF/SB newsletter, "good news" stories, and other recurring information products
  • Develop, annually update, and publish the SAF/SB Annual Program Plan, Strategic Communication Plan (SCP), and Industry Engagement Plan (IEP) in full alignment with the National Defense Strategy and Air Force Strategic Priorities
  • Serve as single POC for all internal and external event requestors; manage checklists, approvals, logistics, handouts, and records disposition
  • Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform strategic messaging and senior-leader briefings
  • Manage monthly Director of Small Business and quarterly Small Business Professional All-Hands meetings (agenda, minutes, distribution)

Mandatory Qualifications (non-negotiable)

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience working with DoD acquisitions and headquarters-level staff actions** (Pentagon, HAF, SAF, MAJCOM, OSD, or Service-level SADBU/OSDBU equivalent)
  • All five (5) years of experience must have occurred within the last 10 years (2015–present)
  • Proven experience as a Public Relations Specialist, Strategic Communications Specialist, Industry Liaison, or Outreach Lead in a DoD/Federal acquisition or small-business program environment
  • Expert in writing executive-level communications (talking points, BBPs, speeches, newsletters)
  • Demonstrated success planning and executing large-scale industry engagement events
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or related field
  • Active, fully adjudicated SECRET clearance
