What to ExpectWe're seeking elite engineers to develop advanced manufacturing processes for next-generation battery cells — the beating heart of every Tesla product. These cells will help make clean energy more affordable and widespread, supporting our mission to speed up the shift to sustainable energy and abundance.In this role, you'll design processes from the start. You collaborate with teams from design, build & test equipment, and quality — to create fixtures, run experiments, measure, analyze, iterate, and validate. You'll work alongside experts, new talent, and leaders from across Tesla, growing your capabilities every day while staying focused on our shared goals.What You'll DoDesign and develop cutting-edge manufacturing processes starting at lab-scale to ultimately enable high-volume production of cell products with improved quality, reduced costs, and increased efficiencyHands-on engagement with manufacturing / test equipment and automation developmentApply a range of manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing, machining, fastening, and welding, and quality inspection methods such as vision inspection, leak testing, and electrical testing, to support process developmentDesign and run experiments to identify key process parameters; optimize processes to improve process capability, quality, and yield; decrease cycle timeUse software tools to develop predictive insights into tool and process performance to unlock manufacturing performance and improve safety while reducing costDefine, release, and maintain technical documentation including process specifications, manufacturing instructions, and PFMEAOccasional travel to Tesla factories, satellite team sites, and suppliers (domestic / international as needed)What You'll BringBachelor of Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or equivalent experience3+ years of experience as a Process Engineer (process development, process capability, troubleshooting, testing & validation, data acquisition & analysis)Robust fundamentals in solid mechanics and heat transfer + demonstrated application to solve thorny problemsFamiliarity with high-volume manufacturing processes such as stamping, deep drawing, plastic injection molding, heat treatment, and metal weldingProficiency with hands-on fabrication skillsProficiency in 3D CAD modeling (CATIA V5/V6 experience is a plus)Foundational knowledge in GD&T (proficiency is a plus)Great communication skills (interpersonal & technical); willingness to lead discussions with internal & external groups; a team-first attitudeResilience & independent learning— ability to hit deadlines under pressure and manage shifting requirements, multiple simultaneous prioritiesCompensation and BenefitsBenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire:Aetna PPO and HSA plans > 2 medical plan options with $0 payroll deductionFamily-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefitsDental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contributionCompany Paid (Health Savings Account) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High Deductible Aetna medical plan with HSAHealthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefitsCompany paid Basic Life, AD&D, short-term and long-term disability insuranceEmployee Assistance ProgramSick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions), and Paid HolidaysBack-up childcare and parenting support resourcesVoluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insuranceWeight Loss and Tobacco Cessation ProgramsTesla Babies programCommuter benefitsEmployee discounts and perks programExpected Compensation$80,000 - $156,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
