The Culinary team at Aldersgate is currently hiring for Full-Time and Part-Time Line Cook's to help support ourGatehouse Dining Venue and Market. We are a creative team that is passionate about using fresh, local, and sustainable products to bring high-quality food to our community. The Line Cook will have a unique opportunity to channel their knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents and team members.
- Schedule/Availability:
- Market: Sunday – Saturday 7:30 am to 3:30 pm or 11:30 am to 7:00 PM
- Gatehouse: Sunday – Saturday 11 am to 8:00 pm.
What you'll do:
- Prepare food items, preparation equipment, small wares, plate ware, food ingredients, garnishes and supply items needed for effective operations
- Maintains the highest degree of sanitation, cleanliness and food safety for work area
- Follow menus provided, making changes only with the consent of the culinary leadership
- Plan cooking schedule so that the finished product reaches the consumer at peak quality
- Work directly with residents, team members, and guests to ensure expectations are being met or exceeded
- Fulfilling catering orders for events on campus
- Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis by an authorized supervisor
What you'll need:
- 2 Years of experience in food service operations
- Knowledge of proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization in yield of meats and other foods
- Ability to time the cooking of vegetables so that their nutritional quality, flavor, and appearance are preserved
- Ability to accurately estimate quantities of food needed and yields from bulk foods
- Knowledge of and an appreciation for principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
- Experience preparing and serving meals in an appealing and appetizing manner
