About the Job

A Principal in the Strategic Engagement practice is a key member of the Red Nucleus Communications and Consulting leadership team. This role is responsible for building and managing relationships with new and existing market access clients, while leading multiple client and engagement teams. As a senior leader, the Principal provides strategic guidance, tactical recommendations, and market access expertise to help pharmaceutical clients navigate complex environments, launch new products, optimize strategies, and achieve business objectives. The Principal is also responsible for ensuring clients are engaged across both consulting and communications offerings to build longer-term, sustainable relationships that serve the best interests of the client. In addition, the Principal leverages industry relationships to generate new opportunities for Red Nucleus, ensures engagements run efficiently and profitably, mentors junior staff, and brings the full capabilities of Red Nucleus to deliver world-class solutions and lasting value to clients.

Duties/Responsibilities

Client Relationship and Delivery

  • Drives the strategic vision for multiple accounts, ensuring alignment with client goals and evolving market trends.
  • Serves as the senior point of contact for client escalations and complex problem-solving, promoting strong, long-term client relationships.
  • Monitors client needs and ensures team is working effectively and efficiently to execute projects according to specifications.
  • Stays informed and addresses any issues related to project budgets, forecasts, and resource utilization within managed client teams, ensuring profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Participates in leadership meetings to inform strategic planning, resource allocation, and client prioritization.
  • Owns client engagements with responsibility for client satisfaction and delivering high levels of quality/added value.
  • Ensures the development and delivery of exceptional deliverables.
    Follows up with clients after project delivery to ensure satisfaction.

Industry Knowledge

  • Advanced market access business acumen for standard business offering within an agency environment.
  • Advanced understanding of the healthcare payer space—the various needs of, and dynamics between, the stakeholders involved and market trends that are impacting the industry.
    Responsible for identifying and maintaining knowledge of current industry trends, the market access landscape, as well as engaging in strategic planning initiatives to maximize commercial market access for biopharmaceutical products and devices.

Supervision and Leadership

  • Leads and manages multiple dedicated cross-functional client teams within Red Nucleus, ensuring seamless execution of projects and alignment with client objectives.
  • Facilitates regular check-ins with dedicated client teams members to address challenges, share progress, and promote collaboration.
  • Engages Red Nucleus's industry experts, medical and communications teams and external consultants as needed to ensure that Red Nucleus's engagements bring our full capabilities to bear on solving client challenges.
  • Shares subject matter expertise with colleagues to elevate Red Nucleus's capabilities to deliver world-class solutions for clients.
  • Oversees and develops assigned direct reports to ensure skill and career growth
  • Works with leadership in developing talent pipeline of existing and future staff within the agency, including individual development plans and succession plans.
  • Conducts regular performance evaluations and provides actionable feedback to ensure continuous professional growth.
  • Maintains a positive, results-oriented, and engaging work environment.
    Ensures all direct reports are knowledgeable and compliant with all internal standard operating procedures, processes, and administrative requirements .

Business Development

  • Leads planning and strategy for assigned accounts, including education and alignment of internal teams on accounts' businesses and creating outward-facing plans for discussion with clients.
  • Owns assigned sales and revenue targets for new and existing accounts, initiating outreach to industry contacts to build new consulting and communications business for Red Nucleus and identifying and realizing opportunities within existing accounts to expand Red Nucleus's consulting and communications business.
  • Contributes to the enhanced awareness of Red Nucleus Consulting and Communications Services in the marketplace, e.g. through client meetings, and thought-leading publications.
  • Generates new business opportunities and leads proposals, pitches, and SOW development to ensure actionable, on-target, and timely proposals.
  • Meets assigned account-level revenue targets through account planning and by developing and delivering insightful, value-added proposals that address clients' market access challenges.
    Identifies and realizes opportunities for follow-on work with existing clients.

Other

  • Uses and is compliant with required company systems and adheres to best practices and standard operation procedures as trained
  • Given the nature of the work, at times be asked to be flexible and to offer extended support outside of normal working hours to meet the business needs. This may also include weekend work
    Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of market access for biopharmaceutical products, particularly in oncology and rare diseases
  • Demonstrated leadership skills within a life sciences, healthcare, or other related consulting organization.
  • Ability to drive Business Development independently, with a track record of selling quality projects to clients in the life sciences industry.
  • Experience in developing relationships with senior-level managers and executives in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale and/or multiple projects, meeting deadlines and ensuring high quality outcomes.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Intellectually curious with an affinity for problem solving and innovation
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent presentation and client-facing skills, including leading presentations, chairing meetings, and facilitating workshops.
  • Interpersonal communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues across the organization to accomplish team goals.
  • Rigorous attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability in relevant soft skills, including change management, continuous improvement, conflict resolution, and consensus building
    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint

Education and Experience

  • 10 years of relevant work experience in market access in the biopharmaceutical industry
  • 8-10 years of experience leading consulting practices in building and delivering market access strategies and solutions
  • 2-3 years exposure to creating brand plans and tactical strategy for payer marketing materials and HCP/Patient Access and Reimbursement materials
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college
    Master's degree in business administration or public health or a PhD in a biologic science highly preferred
