About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Athenahealth API Integration Consultant with proven expertise in Athena One and the Athenahealth Developer Portal. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing, developing, and implementing healthcare data integrations using Athenahealth APIs while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and healthcare data security standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead and advise on Athenahealth API integration projects across multiple healthcare platforms.

2. Work closely with development teams to design, test, and deploy secure and efficient API connections.

3. Utilize deep understanding of FHIR/HL7 standards to support EHR interoperability and data exchange.

4. Implement integrations involving patients, clinical documents, insurance, and orders endpoints within Athena.

5. Provide consulting on Athenahealth data structures, workflows, and interoperability best practices.

6. Support clinical data mapping using ICD-10 and CPT coding standards.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI handling, and healthcare data security best practices.

7. Optimize API design and manage authentication protocols (OAuth 2.0) to maintain system integrity.

8. Collaborate with stakeholders to troubleshoot issues, recommend improvements, and enhance overall integration performance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of experience in Athenahealth API integration and consulting.

2. Proven expertise in Athena One and the Athenahealth Developer Portal.

3. Strong working knowledge of FHIR/HL7 interoperability standards and Athena data models.

4. Practical experience with Athenahealth endpoints related to patients, clinical data, insurance, and orders.

5. Solid understanding of ICD-10, CPT codes, and clinical data mapping.

6. Proficiency in API design, OAuth 2.0 authentication, and integration strategy.

7. Prior experience leading or advising development teams on Athenahealth integration projects.

8. In-depth knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare data security standards.

9. Excellent communication and documentation skills.
