 Job Description:  

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join our team at L3Harris. This position is responsible for creating, developing, planning, writing, and editing operational, instructional, maintenance, and test procedures for product development and customer deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage data to support engineering and technical writing deliverables.
  • Oversee the management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and product documentation using Product Line Management (PLM) tools.
  • Document and maintain technical data related to the manufacturing and integration of product lines.
  • Conduct interviews with various users and technical staff to develop product documentation.
  • Generate technical manuals, processes and specifications using technical inputs from engineering and operations departments as part of cross-functional team (CFT).
  • Recommend formats responsive to technical and customer requirements.
  • Produce products that conform to the company documentation and quality assurance standards.
  • Author documentation in Adobe RoboHelp, knowledge and use of GIT, Visual Studio Code, SharePoint, Windchill, and or Azure Devops tools.

  • May be responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.
  • May manage projects with responsibility for the delegation and review of others' work product.
  • Explains and interprets processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.
  • Gathers cooperation regarding processes, practices, and procedures.
  • Solves problems drawing from prior experiences and with analysis of the issues.
  • Adhere to a style guide, peer review others work, and take feedback on quality and accuracy of own writing.

Education & Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience. 
  • A Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Additional Qualification:

  • Knowledge of data management practices and configuration management documentation.
  • Experience with a PLM Tool such as Team Center or Windchill.
  • Experience with Data Management
  • Experience with single source authoring.
  • Manufacturing technical writing experience.
  • Experience in Agile, iterative development, and/or SCRUM development.
  • Experience documenting software releases, interactive technical manuals, Quick Reference Guides, Training Materials, and Help Sites.
  • Experience with software code, especially HTML, CSS, XML, or JSON.
  • Experience producing interactive media to support software & hardware (system level) documentation.
  • Experience in API documentation and understanding of a Software Development Kit (SDK).
