Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Director or Major Gifts Officer, based in Northwest Washington , DC.. The Director or Major Gifts Officer will reestablish the major-donor program and design a scalable framework for future campaigns. Reporting to senior leadership, this role manages a personal portfolio, partners with the CEO, COO and Board on strategy, and delivers measurable growth in philanthropic revenue.

  • Manage and grow a defined portfolio of major donors and prospects.
  • Develop individualized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
  • Coordinate with executive leadership and board members on strategy and engagement.
  • Prepare and present proposals aligned to mission priorities.
  • Establish systems for recognition, data integrity, and accurate reporting. Partner on capital and planned-giving initiatives

Qualifications

  • Seven to ten years in fundraising with at least three in major or principal gifts.
  • Proven record closing five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Healthcare, senior living, or mission-driven nonprofit campaign management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage high-net-worth donors and convert mission into investment.
  • Proficiency with donor CRMs such as Bloomerang, Raiser's Edge, or DonorPerfect (Bloomerang proficiency prefered)
  • Discreet handling of donor/resident information with HIPAA awareness
