YOUR FUTURE ROLE
As Head of Industry Business Unit (IBU) – Chemicals, you will be responsible for leading SAP's global Chemicals strategy, portfolio, and go-to-market execution. You will play a key role in aligning cross-functional efforts across high-performing global team, supporting SAP's mission to help Chemicals customers innovate sustainably, operate efficiently, and transition to a low-carbon circular economy. Your responsibilities include developing and executing a unified go-to-market strategy in collaboration with regions, supporting strategic customer engagements, shaping SAP's cloud and Business Suite (RISE, GROW) journeys, and driving co-innovation with leading chemical companies and partners.
You will act as the primary industry spokesperson, guiding thought leadership, partner alignment, and ecosystem scaling. Your role also includes owning the global Chemicals business plan, identifying macro-level growth opportunities, and ensuring field enablement with scalable industry assets and best practices. A key part of your mission will be strengthening strategic partnerships, customer community leadership, and influencing SAP's product roadmaps to align with industry needs
Your main responsibilities will be:
- The Industry Business Unit Head for Chemicals is accountable for SAP's global Chemicals strategy, the GTM and Business Plan as well as the global revenue and adoption targets. Working across internal teams as well as the SAP's ecosystem, this leader ensures thought leadership, solution innovation and industry verticalization in collaboration with product management leading to market success and broadening customers footprint in the industry leveraging SAP's Business Suite, BDC and AI.
- Serve as SAP's primary spokesperson for the Chemicals industry across internal and external audiences
- Lead Chemicals Industry Advisory Council, CxO Councils and User Groups to gather global feedback and influence product roadmaps
- Represent SAP with global stakeholders, analysts, and media to build credibility and thought leadership
- Promote SAP's Chemicals presence at global SAP, partner, and industry events, and with industry associations (like VCI)
- Support the creation of industry-specific content, demos, and reference architectures aligned with regions and MU's needs
- Enable SAP field teams, partners, and services organizations through structured training, best practices, and learning journeys
- Expand cloud portfolio adoption into SAP's Chemicals focus segments: Agrochemicals, Specialty Chemicals, Industrial Gases, Base & Petrochemicals, and the new growth segment of Recycling and New Energy Materials.
- Define and drive GTM strategy for Cloud ERP differentiated by public and private cloud, and expand breadth of installed base suite adoption and growth with net new customers
- Lead co-innovation with strategic customers & partners to evolve solutions along real-world chemical industry needs
- Own the global GTM strategy and business plan for the Chemicals industry
- Align regional leadership to achieve growth targets through demand generation and partner engagement
- Support strategic account planning and directly engage in major deals with executive-level involvement
- Shape and review investment plans to align with trends, partner capabilities, competitive threats, and innovation strategy
- Lead global renewal and customer success strategies in partnership with CS and CRO teams
YOUR PROFILE
- Proven software leadership in the Chemicals industry and market from former roles as customer CIO or CTO, presales, srartegy consulting, or business development with strong team management experience
- Deep understanding of chemical value chain and business models, domains and transformation trends (e.g., broader context of the energy & materials transition, market dynamic, operational & cost pressure, sustainability & regulatory requirements)
- Demonstrated success in global GTM execution and revenue growth in global matrix organizations
- Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment
- Solid understanding of SAP offering, industry requirements, and competitive landscape
- (P&L ownership), experience with a track record of delivering above-market results
- Strong executive presence with ability to build and maintain C-level relationships
- Skilled in leading and enabling global, diverse, and virtual teams
- Experienced in co-innovation and influencing product roadmaps through customer engagement
- Partnership mindset and chemical SI & ISV ecosystem-savvy
- Strategic thinker with excellent communication and organizational planning skills
- 10+ years in the software/solutions business; 5+ years in Chemicals
- Strong people management with focus on empowerment and coaching
- Fluent in English; additional languages a plus

The Chemical Industry is a core industry for SAP with a long and rich history dating back to 1972 and SAP's very first customer - ICI. Today, 97 of the top 100 global chemical companies run SAP, along with nearly 5,000 mid-market chemical manufacturers around the world.
The Industry Business Unit (IBU) Process Industry & Natural Resources is a strategic part of SAP's Energy & Natural Resources sector which is one of the largest and most important sectors in the company. The Chemicals team, within the IBU, is responsible for defining and ensuring the delivery of end-to-end software solutions for the Chemical industry which address current and future customer needs, enable our sales organization and partner ecosystem, and support strategic deals, and collaborate with the industry leading customers through our chemicals executive advisory council.

Compensation Range Transparency: SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 194, USD) USD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process.
