Charlotte, North Carolina, United States Heimdall Power Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

WHO WE ARE:

Founded in 2016, Heimdall Power is redefining grid intelligence to create a smarter, more resilient energy future. Trusted by more than 50 utilities across 20 countries, Heimdall Power helps utilities optimize grid performance, prevent outages, protect infrastructure, and ensure compliance. At the core of Heimdall Power's platform is the Neuron, a cutting-edge, power line–mounted sensor with plug-and-play software, advanced communication technology, and drone-based installation. From dynamic line rating (DLR) to asset health monitoring, Heimdall Power arms utilities with real-time insights to drive efficiency and innovation in an evolving energy landscape.

THE POSITION:

The Director of Business Development will play a pivotal role in accelerating the adoption of Heimdall Power's advanced grid-enhancing technologies—including both hardware and SaaS solutions—across North America. This individual will engage directly with utilities, transmission owners, system operators, and other key stakeholders in the power industry to identify opportunities, cultivate relationships, and secure new sales opportunities.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, technically fluent sales leader with deep expertise in transmission systems, utility operations, and grid modernization initiatives. Success in this role requires the ability to engage in both high-level strategic discussions and detailed technical conversations, ultimately converting these interactions into long-term partnerships. The winning candidate must demonstrate a history of closing substantial SaaS deals and building long term customer partnerships and exhibit a strong capability to identify and solve complex grid-modernization challenges. This position offers the unique opportunity to shape Heimdall Power's North American growth strategy by helping utilities unlock grid capacity, improve reliability, and advance the transition to clean energy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Development

  • Identify, qualify, and nurture sales opportunities with a diverse range of utility stakeholders, from C-suite executives to engineering and project management leaders.

Solutions-Oriented Sales

  • Collaborate with utility partners to uncover and address opportunities to enhance grid reliability, increase load performance, strengthen system resilience, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into clear business outcomes that align with customer goals.

Strategic Contract Management

  • Lead negotiations for high-value contracts and secure agreements that deliver sustained value for both utilities and Heimdall Power.
  • Drive deal structures that balance scalability and profitability.

Partnership Development

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with industry influencers, including management consultancies in the power sector, EPC firms, and key vendors serving the transmission and distribution industry.
  • Represent Heimdall Power in collaborative initiatives that advance grid modernization efforts across North America.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in electrical or power system engineering, energy systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in sales or business development roles focused in the utility sector.
  • Proven expertise in complex technical sales including SaaS sales, with a proven track record of leading and closing multimillion-dollar contract negotiations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transmission/distribution system planning, operations, and asset management.
  • In-depth, cross-functional operational experience with U.S. utility organizations and a strong grasp of their operational and regulatory environments.
  • Strong technical orientation and demonstrated enthusiasm for innovative technology solutions.
  • Experience using CRM systems, such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Willingness to take on increased management responsibilities as Heimdall Power expands its North American market presence.

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience engaging with regulatory bodies and navigating energy policy frameworks.
  • Familiarity with energy trading markets, utility operations and maintenance (O&M), capital budgeting, and ROI analysis.

WHAT WE OFFER:

  • Competitive, comprehensive compensation package

  • 401(k)

  • Dental, health, and vision insurance

  • Generous paid time off

  • Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology that has widespread commercial appeal and strong media recognition

  • A dynamic, energetic culture that values innovation, collaboration, and recognizes the crucial contributions of every team member to market growth and global grid optimization

  • Professional development supported by a passionate, purpose-driven team advancing the world's essential infrastructure—the power grid

  • Please note that this is a full-time position. We will consider a remote arrangement for the right candidate. The role involves domestic travel and occasional international trips.
