A Brief Overview
The Principal Software Engineer will architect, innovate and create multi-disciplinary technical and functional solutions to complex business problems. This position provides technical leadership to development and design teams and oversees all technical aspects of projects. This candidate must design and implement reusaable services that are highly scalable, secure, performant, and low cost to maintain and operate.

What you will do

  • Architect and lead the planning, design and development of new software solutions
  • Working closely with Product owners and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and design software solutions to meet the product requirements
  • Solves complex and ambitious problems by crafting elegant and impactful solutions and generates concise and effective analysis, reports, and presentation for both internal and external customers.
  • Contribute to technical innovations along with defining coding standards
  • Mentors and supports other members of the software development team and contributes to the software development best practices
  • Serves as an expert advisor to executives on the use of current and future technologies for optimal impact on current and future business strategies and results
  • Leads innovation across the organization by exploring new technologies, demonstrating how to leverage those discoveries through proof of concept and incorporating them into the platform
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience preferred 

Experience Qualifications

  • Typically, 12+ years of hands-on object-oriented programming in Java, with expertise in developing and managing DevOps SDLC automation.
  • Proven experience with the software development life cycle (SDLC), engineering tools management, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD workflows, API programming, and engineering services automation at scale.

Skills and Abilities

  • Expertise in architecting, implementing, and managing critical engineering tools to support global product development, including JFrog, SonarQube, Harness, Jira, Confluence, and Atlassian Marketplace solutions.
  • Strong hands-on Java programming skills with deep understanding of software development, SDLC best practices, APIs (REST and GraphQL), and code security leveraging SCA, SAST, and DAST solutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of CI/CD workflows, engineering tool integrations, cloud-native DevOps platforms, and observability/API solutions, for example, Sentry and SwaggerHub.
  • Subject matter expertise in source code management, GitHub, Bitbucket, including GitHub Actions, Copilot for AI, repository migrations, and toolchain consolidation.
  • Advanced proficiency in backend database development, including SQL programming, database schema design, implementation, and optimization for applications and automation development.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing test automation frameworks and tools, Playwright, BrowserStack, with expertise in unit testing, code coverage analysis, and enforcing quality gates for robust software delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions, define best practices, and refine technical roadmaps aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Experienced in establishing KPI metric frameworks to measure engineering excellence, optimize workflows, and drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving results, inspiring teams, and operating effectively within Agile frameworks and practices.

The preferred location for this role is Atlanta, GA, and the salary range for this location is $140,600.00 to $309, All qualified external applicants will be considered for an in-office role, based in Atlanta.  All qualified internal candidates are encouraged to apply and consider relocation to Atlanta and may be considered for remote hire at the company's discretion. The candidate's final salary offer will be based on the candidate's skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate's compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet's corporate bonus plan.
