Boston, Massachusetts, United States Boston Business Journal Full time $60,000 - $100,000 per year

This position will be Hybrid in the office/market 3 days per week, and those days can be flexible in consultation with your manager.
The Boston Business Journal is hiring a staff reporter to cover wealth, economic development and professional services in Greater Boston.

Boston is home to one of the oldest and most mature financial service sectors in the country — and is also an innovative biotech and tech hub. This reporter will cover the state's competitiveness by tracking the performance of the state and regional economy, diving into components of a strong economy (infrastructure, state initiatives, etc.), and keeping businesses and state leaders accountable as they strive to make Massachusetts more competitive and grow the economy. This position will also cover law firms, banks and accounting — the businesses that enable other businesses to grow.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a reporter who is interested in writing about the region's largest employers and the growth of one of the most interesting economies in the country.

A Business Journal reporter is expected to break news ahead of the competition, build a solid pipeline of enterprise ideas and relentlessly grow their source base.

Our content gives our audience a leg up on their competitors, connects them with decision-makers and delineates growth strategies that work from those that don't.

  • Scoop competitors on every story of any significance, not only telling them what happened, but why and how.

Skills

  • Desire and ability to break news and to identify newsworthy events and sources
  • Strong analytical and investigative-interviewing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to relate comfortably to a wide range of people, in person, on the phone and online.
