Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced individual to serve as a strategic, hands-on leader of a matrixed team whose primary focus is the design and implementation of standard and client specific reports.  The incumbent will work hand in hand with operations teams, technology teams and clients to successfully deliver various projects. This role will lead all efforts to analyze business requirements and technical solutions to deliver high quality reporting options to our clients and internal users. The incumbent will manage a team of Developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers as well as oversee Technology partners and manage vendor relationships. 

This position will interface with data experts, data sourcing resources and assist in the validation of required data.  The incumbent will serve as the primary subject matter expert across the organization and assist users with ad – hoc report construction, queries and researching issues on existing data.

State Street's Reporting and Visualization Team offers a full suite of reporting services required by the most sophisticated Investment Managers and internal users. We connect to a variety of data sources to build content used by our clients for their End Client Reporting needs as well as internal reporting needs. 

What you will be responsible for

As the Head of Reporting Development, you will: 

  • Lead projects in design of reporting initiatives. Work with operations, clients, and technology to deliver various projects. 
  • Analyze technical solutions to business requirements and work with the business teams to identify requirements. 
  • Develop data, functional requirements, and cost estimates for projects. 
  • Participate in information delivery and business intelligence strategy sessions 
  • Complete data analysis, profiling, and data mappings. 
  • Interface with data experts, data sourcing resources and assist in the data validation. 
  • Assist in the development the conceptual/logical data models with appropriate business contexts 
  • Perform data gap analysis on complex financial data 
  • Serve as primary subject matter expert across the organization and assist users with ad-hoc dashboard and visualization construction, queries and researching issues on existing data. 
  • Ensure project activity is customer focused, results oriented, performance driven, and in compliance with all applicable internal and external requirements 
  • Employ analytical, conceptual, and creative thinking skills to improve performance 
  • Study, evaluate, and document current and future business processes while staying aligned with strategic goals 
  • Support user training, documentation, and rollout 
  • Support BAU activities  
  • Maintain effective working relationships with organizational team and clients 
  • Manage the support of our visualization platform with both internal IT teams and our vendor.
  • Manage a team of Developers, Business Analysts, Project Managers

  • Demonstrated excellence in business writing, development of business process flow diagrams, making comparisons regarding current and future processes, and effective communication 
  • Ability to articulate basic project methodology concepts using either SDLC or Agile 
  • Ability to analyze entity-relationship diagrams and logical data models to validate design against requirements 
  • Ability to write SQL code for strong data analysis through queries, data profiling, and data validation exercises 
  • Familiarity with financial reporting, business intelligence, and data warehousing principles 
  • Understands BI/reporting tool architecture, functions, and features 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for diverse audiences with excellent facilitation 

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, MIS, Information Technology, or related field of study
  • 10+ years' experience data analysis or client reporting

Salary Range:

$130,000 - $212,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
