Position Overview

The client is seeking an experienced and highly responsible
Senior Systems Engineer
to join their team in the Washington, DC area (outside of downtown). The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable enterprise systems. This individual will take ownership of system performance, reliability, and optimization—ensuring strong operational excellence and continuous improvement across all infrastructure components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, plan, implement, operate, and optimize secure and robust
    Active Directory
    and
    Identity systems
    within the enterprise.
  • Evaluate new and emerging technologies to align with organizational needs, including
    hybrid on-prem/cloud
    environments.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and leadership to support operational objectives.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and applications within established guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes through
    automation and scripting (e.g., PowerShell)
    .
  • Serve as a senior-level escalation point for complex technical issues.
  • Lead efforts to improve existing processes and documentation to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and train junior technical team members to promote skill development and knowledge sharing.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship
    (mandatory).
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
    with a
    T5 or T5R investigation
    completed within the past 51 months.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience
    , with at least
    7 years
    focused on enterprise-level
    Active Directory
    design, planning, implementation, and maintenance (Windows Server
  • Expert knowledge of:
  • Active Directory (AD)
    and
    Group Policy
  • Windows Server
    and
    Workstation Operating Systems
  • Active Directory Federated Services (ADFS)
  • DHCP
    ,
    DNS
    , and
    AD Certificate Services (ADCS)
  • MS SQL Server
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with proven ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple competing demands effectively and operate independently.
  • Must be willing to commute onsite to
    Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB)
    in Washington, DC.

    in a related field with one or more
