Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century's most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril's family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
The Test and Evaluation team at Anduril plays a crucial role in our mission, ensuring that every product meets the highest standards of performance and reliability. Our team conducts full system level development testing, new production acceptance testing, software validation testing and much more. This position is looking for a highly motivated flight test engineer with emphasis in software/hardware capability development and evaluation for the Altius UAS platform. Altius is a Group 2/3 autonomous vehicle specializing in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. You will be responsible for the evaluation of the software and hardware capabilities for operational suitability as well as Altius's integration into the full suite of Anduril systems to complete complex operations.
About The Job
The Test and Evaluation team is seeking a Test and Evaluation Engineer. In this role you will conduct system level development testing and evaluate hardware and software readiness, from early test evaluations to customer deployment.
What You'll Do
Design and implement test plans that challenge and verify the capabilities of the Altius UAS. To include:
Acceptance Testing - Testing for acceptability by end-users, often in a real-world environment, to validate that it meets their needs and requirements.
- System Testing - Testing the complete integrated system to verify that it meets all specified requirements.
- Integration Testing - Testing where modules are combined and tested as a group to ensure they work together properly.
Unit Testing - Testing on individual modules or units of code to verify that each one functions correctly in isolation.
Collaborate closely with engineers and cross functional teams to ensure end-to-end functionality, and bug fixes.
- Conduct hardware and software testing, including validation and regression tests to ensure new features align with system capabilities and mission objectives.
- Analyze data from tests to validate system performance and identify areas for improvement, iterating rapidly to refine hardware implementation and software behaviors.
- Drive the advancement of Anduril's testing methodologies, with a focus on Group 2 UAS, to ensure robust and reliable performance in complex operational scenarios.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, or a related technical field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience in robotics or autonomous systems testing.
- 2-5 years of experience in software/hardware testing, with a strong emphasis on autonomous or remotely piloted systems.
- Demonstrated ability in developing and executing test plans for complex systems within aggressive timelines.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively articulating technical challenges and solutions to a diverse audience.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel to various testing locations as required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret-Level security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the development, flight testing, and deployment of unmanned systems in a defense or aerospace context.
- Familiarity with software development practices and experience with programming languages used in autonomy and robotics (e.g., Python, C++, Rust).
