Position Summary

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee all areas of accounting and finance. As part of our fast-paced, energetic team, you will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This role requires meeting tight deadlines while managing a wide range of activities including general ledger preparation, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and compliance with federal grant reporting. The Accounting Manager will report directly to the CEO and work closely with other business and accounting officials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Manage accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes.
  • Lead daily banking requirements and ensure timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Oversee processing of Accounts Payable, Payroll, and Accounts Receivable transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal grant accounting and reporting requirements, including tracking allowable costs, reporting, and audit preparation.
  • Apply and maintain proper revenue recognition methods in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed accurately and on time.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental work to improve efficiency and optimize resource use.
  • Advise staff on the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Respond to inquiries from the CEO, Director of Business Development, Consulting CFO, and other managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Supervise the general ledger team to ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met.
  • Support the CEO and Consulting CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Provide training and mentorship to new and existing staff as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant finance and accounting experience.
  • Experience in federal grant accounting (reporting, compliance, and audits).
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks Premier or other large automated systems preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Access, and Word skills.
  • Ten-key by touch proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
