The Director position is the senior leader for the X-Division tasked with providing tactical and strategic direction for disciplined operations, management of mission-critical facilities and associated safety management programs, and the nuclear criticality safety program at the Y-12 site. The Director is responsible for establishing standards, performance expectations, and accountability for Conduct of Operations and Disciplined Operations at the Y-12 Site, including working across program areas for the effectiveness of the program.
Accountable to the Y-12 Site Manager and responsible for:
- Serves as the principal spokesperson for the X-Division on highly significant matters; decisions have the maximum effect on the success or failure of the Y-12 Site to meet its long-term mission objectives
- The Conduct of Operations program implementation, oversight, and improvement efforts
- Assisting with readiness preparations for identified startups
- Maintains visible leadership presence in production areas to better guide developmental efforts associated with performance improvement and personnel level of knowledge
- Driving digital transformation initiatives within the Y-12 plant
- Advising on complex matters requiring management involvement to progress
- Represents the company with external agencies (NNSA, regulators, and public) within area of responsibility
- Responsible for and creates the vision for the division, including leading initiatives for change across company organizational boundaries
- Creates an environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness across the Y-12 Site and with customers
- Decisions, actions, or recommendations affect major goals and objectives of the Y-12 Site

- Bachelor's degree: Minimum 12 years of relevant experience. Minimum 5 years of relevant supervisory/ management experience.
- In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major and 4 years nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative).
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Y-12 Site, Scheduling and Project Management, Conduct of Operations, Integrated Safety Management, Engineering principles, and Quality and Security requirements.

If a range of Career Levels is posted, i.e., Senior Associate to Senior Specialist, internal applicants already in one of the Career Levels would come across at their current Career Level. Internal applicants currently in a lower level Career Level would move to the lowest posted Career Level.
Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
