Customer Service Representative

This position is for a bilingual representative and applicants must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
The NMHealth Helpline Vital Records Representative will report to the Epidemiology Hotline Director, Nursing Manager, and Logistics Staff, either directly or indirectly, and will be the first point of contact for individuals inquiring about vital records. This role involves answering calls, providing information, and assisting with requests for vital records such as birth and death certificates. If necessary, the representative will escalate complex cases to the appropriate department or personnel. Additionally, the representative will collaborate with management and colleagues through Microsoft Teams chat.
Candidates should have at least two years of experience providing customer service over the phone. A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, is required. This position also demands excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write professional emails with graduate-level spelling, grammar, punctuation, and diction. Experience using team messaging platforms like Slack or Microsoft Teams, as well as the ability to multitask (e.g., monitoring chat while performing other tasks), is required. Candidates must be able to communicate comfortably in Spanish over the phone and should be familiar with basic Spanish medical terminology.
The ideal candidate will have experience with public records. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent and reside in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CO, FL, GA, HI, ID, IN, IA, KS, MD, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, NM, ND, OR, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WI, or WY.
This is a fast-paced, remote position with no on-site supervision. The incumbent must maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability, and reliability. Other duties may be assigned based on the Department of Health's needs.
