About Gemstone Midstream:
Gemstone Midstream is a newly formed midstream company initially focused on the construction and operation of a comprehensive water system servicing operations in Loving County, Texas.
Job Overview:
Gemstone is searching for an entrepreneurial, motivated, and intellectually curious operations professional to join the team as soon as possible as the Director of Operations of Gemstone Midstream. The Director of Operations will lead all aspects of field operations, construction, and asset management for a rapidly growing water infrastructure company serving upstream oil and gas operations in the Delaware Basin. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of water sourcing, transport, recycling, and disposal services, while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across the organization. The role will report to the Vice President-Gemstone Midstream.
Key Responsibilities and Characteristics:
• Direct the construction and commissioning of water infrastructure projects, including water gathering systems, pipelines, SWDs, recycling facilities, and related systems
• Coordinate with internal and external resources to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget
• Build strong working relationships with landowners and other local stakeholders
• Identify and implement enhancements to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and increase productivity through resource optimization
• Hire out a strong operational team as needs develop
• Supervise department managers, foster a culture of collaboration, and ensure consistency across all divisions
• Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, including water quality standards and permit requirements
• Serve as customer-facing operations representative
• Build and maintain relationships with third-party producers and downstream partners, negotiate contracts, and present new business opportunities to senior management
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of leadership experience in oilfield water management, midstream, or related infrastructure sectors
• Strong understanding of water sourcing, gathering, recycling, and disposal operations within the Permian/Delaware Basin
• Experience managing large operations focused teams and contractors
• Proven ability to manage large-scale construction projects
• Knowledge of regulatory and environmental compliance in Texas
• Strong work ethic and superior problem-solving skills that thrive in a start-up organization
