The Impact you will have in this role:

The Director, Network Innovation and Delivery is a senior leader in IT responsible for delivery of pivotal initiatives that will drive operational excellence, and security of DTCC's network infrastructure within a highly regulated financial services environment. This role ensures the observability, availability, performance, and resilience of DTCC's network. The Director will lead teams of network engineers responsible for core network service delivery across the enterprise network, inclusive of Campus, Data Center and Cloud Network Infrastructure. This role is responsible for driving innovation and delivery excellence while ensuring compliance with industry regulations, technology best practices and the highest level of security standards. This role will be instrumental in advancing new initiatives such as Zero Trust, network modernization activities for routing and switching environments and driving automation capabilities to ensure zero impact changes.

Candidate must have experience with modern networking technologies, application stacks and loosely coupled architectures, strong leadership and collaboration skills and expertise in delivering large scale technology implementations.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

Strategic & Delivery Leadership

  • Develop and implement a forward-looking network strategy aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead in the deployment of new technologies and establish migration strategies from legacy infrastructure to modern, scalable, and secure network architectures (e.g., SD-WAN, cloud networking, zero-trust models) and drive operational adoption.
  • Partner with client facing teams (internal and external) on SLAs and serve as the highest levels of escalation for incident resolution.
  • Establish and/or maintain consistent, efficient and effective processes and procedures that ensure predictable delivery of networking solutions.
  • Ensure 24/7 operational support for mission-critical financial systems and trading platforms.
Team & Vendor Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of network professionals.
  • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements (SLAs) with telecom providers and technology partners.
  • Manage cross project and workstream coordination across vendors, teams, and oversight bodies
Performance & Resilience
  • Supervise network performance monitoring, conduct capacity planning, and develop disaster recovery strategies.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, analytics, and proactive issue resolution.
  • Chaos Engineering & Failure Design. Demonstrate in pre-production failure scenarios to test system resilience and validate fallback mechanism
Collaboration & Communication
  • Serve as a "Change Agent" who brings a sense of urgency and can mobilize resources and implement initiatives on time.
  • Serve as a key liaison between technology and business units, ensuring network strategies support evolving financial services needs.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on network health, risks, and pivotal initiatives.
Instrumentation
  • Lead the deployment and integration of advanced tools including Cisco vManage, ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, Netbrain and NetScout, driving automation and real-time visibility across our infrastructure.
  • Champion scalable observability frameworks, ensure alignment with business continuity goals, and guide cross-functional teams in demonstrating telemetry and diagnostics to enhance performance, resilience, and operational efficiency.
  • Service Level Objectives (SLOs) & Error Budgets. Define measurable reliability targets and use error budgets to balance innovation with stability
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform or Pulumi to reduce configuration drift and human error.
  • Monitoring & Observability. Combine metrics, logs, traces, and real user monitoring (RUM) for full-stack visibility and actionable insights
  • Automated Testing & Deployment. Use CI/CD pipelines, canary deployments, and automated rollbacks to ensure safe and scalable releases
  • Blameless Postmortems & Incident Management. Champion a culture of learning through structured incident reviews and standardized response protocols
  • Platform Engineering Integration. Treat infrastructure as internal products, enabling self-service APIs and automated workflows for developers
Support a multi-vendor environment, including
  • Cisco Routing/Switching/Wireless and associated Management Platforms: Nexus Dashboard Fabric Controller, Catalyst Center, Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN Manage.
  • Network load balancing (F5), Palo Alto firewalls, Zscaler cloud security platforms for end-user proxy and private access.
  • Event Correlation: Lead the integration of telemetry and alerting systems (e.g., SolarWinds, NetScout, ThousandEyes) to deliver actionable insights through real-time event correlation and root cause analysis 2.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in network operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within financial services or a similarly regulated industry.
Talents Needed for Success:
  • Deep expertise in multi-vendor enterprise networking technologies and protocols (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, firewalls, cloud networking, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS).
  • Solid understanding of financial services, regulatory frameworks and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale network transformations and managing complex, multi-site environments.
  • Certifications such as CCNP/CCIE, CISSP, or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Prior Financial Services experience is highly preferred. Alternatively, must have prior experience for working in a regulated environment and managing / partnering with industry regulators
  • Combination of excellent leadership/management, technology, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
