Job Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Heavy Civil Construction Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with the ability to analyze project specifications, prepare accurate cost estimates, and effectively negotiate contracts. This role requires a blend of technical skills and practical experience to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Utilize software tools such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid for accurate pricing and cost control.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to gather relevant data for estimating purposes.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
  • Prepare detailed reports outlining estimated costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
  • Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
  • Monitor ongoing projects to track expenses against budgeted costs, providing updates as necessary.
  • Assist in the development of project schedules and timelines in collaboration with the construction management team.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field is essential.
  • Proficiency in using estimating software such as Bluebeam and HeavyBid is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with cost control measures and pricing strategies within the construction industry.
  • Previous experience working on construction sites is preferred, providing insight into practical challenges faced during projects.
  • A background in construction management or project management is advantageous.
