Koniag Data Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Technical Writer to support our government customer in Washington D.C. The ideal candidate is a quick worker, an excellent team player, and passionate about delivering detailed and compelling content that effectively tells a story.
 
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documentation for Federal IT Cybersecurity and Governance programs. The ideal candidate will have experience with federal government legislative and regulatory requirements, particularly in IT policy implementation.

Develop and maintain policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines related to information security and compliance requirementsCreate and update documentation for security control implementations, including system security plans and control descriptionsDraft and edit technical narratives for audit responses and evidence documentationWork with subject matter experts to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise documentationAssist in preparing documentation for compliance audits (SOC, FedRAMP, CMMC, HIPAA, etc.)Maintain documentation libraries and ensure version control of all compliance artifactsDevelop templates and standardize documentation formats to ensure consistencySupport the development of training materials related to compliance requirementsTrack regulatory changes and update documentation to reflect new requirementsParticipate in internal audits and control assessments as needed

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a compliance or information security environmentExperience with GRC frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, SOC, FedRAMP, CMMC, or similar compliance frameworksPrevious experience writing for government or highly regulated industries preferred

Required Skills and Competencies:

Exceptional writing and editing skills with meticulous attention to detailStrong understanding of GRC concepts, terminology, and frameworksAbility to translate complex technical information into clear, accessible documentationProficiency with documentation tools and content management systemsExcellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneouslyStrong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholdersKnowledge of documentation best practices, including style guides and formatting standardsAbility to work independently and meet tight deadlinesStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances

Preferred Skills and Competencies:

Experience with FedRAMP, CMMC, NIST 800-53, or other federal security frameworksFamiliarity with GRC tools such as RSA Archer, MetricStream, or similar platformsExperience supporting federal government contractsKnowledge of cybersecurity concepts and technologiesPrevious experience in IT auditing or compliance assessment rolesCertifications in technical writing, information security, or compliance (CISSP, CISA, etc.)
