Job Summary

Assistant Director will manage administrative and student life aspects of Harris School of Public Policy's Evening Master's Program. This includes managing a graduate assistant, overseeing the maintenance and creation of SOPs, acting as academic advisor to EMP students. Managing the operating budget and liaising regularly with the Faculty Director. Intermediate knowledge of Excel, , Salesforce, Slate, Canvas, Gradescope, and AIS is required. Two days per week in person required.

Responsibilities

  • Program & People Management:
  • Manage one part-time graduate assistant (GA). Hold regular one-on-one meetings with GA, ensuring effective progress toward projects and timely completion of tasks.
  • Manage entire program budget (operating expenses) as well as monthly tuition and scholarship projections.
  • Perform quarterly scholarship audits.
  • Perform all administrative functions related to academic advising, registration, classroom planning, and maintenance of academic records including processing graduation for all EMP students.
  • Manage Leave of Absence and Resumption of Studies processes for all EMP students.
  • Manage and process course drops and program withdraws.
  • Manage the academic status of EMP students on academic probation.
  • Create official letters and other necessary documentation for students' scholarship providers and other sponsors as needed.
  • Student Life:
  • Manage EMP Orientation and Graduation (planning, marketing, execution, and evaluation).
  • Manage all aspects of student life programming (liaising with Harris departments, planning, marketing, execution, and evaluation of programs including quarterly Current Topics courses and surrounding events).
  • Academic Advising & Academic Support:
  • Act as academic advisor for EMP students.
  • Manage EMP Tutoring Program including selecting, orienting, and liaising with tutors.
  • Manage quantitative preparatory modules, including securing platform, negotiating updates, and maintaining performance records.
  • Manage EMP TAs including orienting them and assisting with anonymous grading, cheating, and student relations.
  • Sets and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
  • Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher focusing on communications, management, or higher education.

Technical Knowledge or Skills:

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and the Google Suite.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and communicate clearly.

Working Conditions

  • Must work in-office at Keller Center on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Must be present until 6:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to assist TAs, professors, and students upon arrival at Keller Center.
  • Must hold regular weekly office hours during lunch and after 5 pm due to working student population.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to manage multiple demands and triage demands in accordance with program goals and requirements.
  • Must work one Saturday per quarter to facilitate Current Topics Courses.
  • Must be present at weekend and after hours events including Graduation Social, and annual ARD networking dinner.
