Sidwell Friends School, a co-educational Quaker day school, seeks a per diem Daily Substitute Teacher for our Middle School division in all subjects for grades 5 – 8. Qualified applicants with possess a relevant college degree, some experience working with children, and certified in CPR/First Aid. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in using digital and online platforms for both in person and remote instruction.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for covering classes when the regular teacher is absent or unavailable
  • Delivering lessons and lectures in an organized and effective manner
  • Maintaining a safe and clean classroom environment that is conducive to learning

Qualifications:

  • Relevant college degree and/or experience working with Middle School aged children
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and adaptability to respond to the changing needs of the classroom environment

Work Schedule:

  • Must be available during school hours, which are 8:00am – 4:00pm.
  • Due to the nature of the school environment, there may not be substitution possibilities every day.
  • Teaching positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based, and this position requires teaching in person.

Compensation

  • Daily Rate: $75.00-$150.00.
