POSITION PROFILE:
The Venue Sales Manager will generate top line revenue from the broad corporate and social markets by maximizing the use of The Catered Affair venue facilities and business locations. This position is responsible for carrying through the implementation of all sales strategies working with the Executive Director of Sales and achieve revenue and booking goals for a specific month, year and targeted demographic.
- Sells to the top-tier corporate market, social, wedding, and nonprofit events, and contracting the targeted business
- Consistently sells all available dates and spaces for the BPL and cross selling other city venues as needed – maximizing each opportunity
- Ensures customer satisfaction with all functions through flawless follow through on sales administration and events producing
This is a working position, as this person will be personally involved with all clients and maintaining long term relationships as well as manage all selling activity. Working with the Sales Director, they will identify the best corporate and social prospects, drive the sales process against these prospects, and work with other venue sales directors to ensure a consistent and unified approach to cross selling. They embrace cooperation and collaboration across TCA especially Accounting, Operations, Event Management, and Culinary. It is critical that this position manage both internal & external relationships required to meet corporate sales objectives and goals. This position requires at least 45+ hours per week, including nights and weekends.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Drives sales of all market segments at TCA Exclusive Venues and TCA Venue Collection non exclusive with Cross selling.
- Provides primary contact for all inquiries and schedules/hosts facility tours as requested.
- Meets with interested clients to gather pertinent event information, book events, and develop event menus; suggesting services such as linens, audio/visual, entertainment, etc. as well as the design packages and full service event planning services.
- Oversees all client bookings; troubleshoots any contractual issues or client problems.
- Maintains accurate filing system for past, tentative, and upcoming events. Uses catering software and systems to their full potential. Keeps accurate records and details of all client transactions and correspondence.
- Consistently and effectively utilizes administrative forms to secure the contracts and communicate accurate event information to the Event Producer assigned.
- Ensures contracts are accurate and appropriate.
- Shares new menu/event opportunities with Sales team.
- Attends daily/weekly sales and BEO meetings to update team on upcoming events.
- Works with the BPL event producing team to provide specialty services or upgraded items for the clients.
- As necessary and requested complete any duties needed to ensure achieving the mission of The Catered Affair.
PREREQUISITES/QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- 3 - 5+ years broad sales experience including: cold calling, social media, managing contacts, networking, showcasing facilities, preparing and presenting proposals/contracts.
- Track record of successful business development by leading a group of sales professionals who generate both new business as well as maintain established client contacts.
- Proven performance history with personally managing multiple large-scale, detailed, high-end events at one time.
JOB KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS REQUIRED
- Advanced knowledge of sales planning and management.
- Ability to translate customers' needs into sales.
- Strong analytical, strategic planning and financial background.
- General understanding of Boston and Surrounding area
- Proven problem solving and troubleshooting ability.
- A well-developed network of customer contacts in the Greater Boston area.
- Enthusiasm for special events.
- Must possess a better than average knowledge of food and beverage pricing.
- Highly articulate; possessing mature and polished presence
- Resilient. Ability to overcome objections. Inspiring, collaborative and motivated to succeed.
- A good listener; persistent; thoughtful problem solver; open-minded assessor of needs and ideas.
- Excellent problem solving, decision-making, organizational alignment, workflow management, and communication skills are vital. Strong Common Sense.
- Professional presence and demeanor as well as outstanding telephone etiquette with a personal, mature, courteous, and charismatic personality that provides the ability to successfully market prospects both in person and on the telephone.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Medium work where up to 50 lbs. of force is exerted occasionally and up to 20# of force frequently
- Activities include; stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
- Visual acuity required
