About the Role

We're seeking an experienced **AS400/Synon Tech Lead** to lead our enterprise application development team. This is a direct W2 employment opportunity managing critical legacy and modernized systems for mission-critical business operations.

Required Skills & Experience

**Must-Have:**

• 12+ years of professional experience with AS400 (IBM i) systems

• 8+ years of hands-on Synon/2E development experience

• Expert-level knowledge of RPG programming (RPG III, RPG IV, Free-Form RPG)

• Proficiency with COBOL and CL (Control Language)

• Strong understanding of DB2 for i (database management on AS400)

• Experience with IBM i system administration and configuration

• Proven track record as a technical leader or team lead

• Knowledge of file transfer protocols and integration methods (FTP, SFTP, APIs)

• Familiarity with AS400 backup, recovery, and disaster planning

• Understanding of security protocols and user access management on IBM i

**Highly Preferred:**

• Experience with modernization initiatives (Java integration, web services)

• Knowledge of System i Navigator and iSeries Access tools

• Experience with IoT, EDI, or electronic data interchange on AS400

• Familiarity with SQL/400 and query tools

• Knowledge of Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, Business Objects)

• Experience with release management and version control on AS400

• Understanding of IBM Rational Developer for i (RDi)

• Previous experience with AS400 performance tuning and optimization

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• IBM i or AS400 certifications highly valued

• Synon/2E certification is a plus

• Any additional IBM certifications or training is beneficial
