We are seeking a licensed Individual/Group Therapist (Counselor) to join our team You must have a Master's Degree in Counseling and clinical experience is recommended. You will provide recovery-oriented rehabilitation services, in group or individual settings, in a private day Special Education school. As well as respond to students in crisis, providing interventions, threat assessments,and focusing on the individual goals of each student, including coping skills, transition plans, treatment plans and more. Experience with parent communications and the linking of services is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues
  • Provide mental health skill building
  • Implement Threat Assessments
  • Offer assistance to individuals with disiablities
  • Provide parent, and outside agency communication
  • Provide prevention-oriented therapy
  • Implement and review treatment plans
  • Collaborate with additional treatment providers and placement agencies
  • Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner
  • Provide Supervision for registered QMHP-C candidates

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in mental health counseling or other related fields
  • Licensed LPC or LCSW
  • Familiarity with community mental health resources
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to build rapport with clients and staff
  • Strong leadership qualities
  • First Aid/CPR Certification

Mission: The mission of the Educational Development Center's therapeutic programming is to provide a therapeutic, intensive academic and behavioral program to students who have been identified as emotionally disabled, learning disabled, intellectually disabled, autism, multi-disabled and those with other health impairments. Towards that end, EDC facilitates a behavior management programs that provides consistent structure to the classroom and allows for individualized academic instruction.

We understand that our students learn differently, and require different strategies to reach and teach them. Therefore, all instruction, strategies, behavioral approaches, and supports are channeled through the concept of "thinking outside of the box". Due to our small nature, we are able to be creative, innovative, and flexible in our methodology to learning and behavioral management. Staff are encouraged to demonstrate creativity and autonomy within their classroom environment to best support student's needs.
