Role Overview

Blackfield Associates is currently seeking an
Automation Engineer
to join a highly technical and project-driven automation team on a staff hire basis. In this role, you'll join the internal team of a world leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing, based at their facility in Richmond, Virginia. Here, you will play a key role in driving the sites continued growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain, improve, and support automation systems within manufacturing operations
  • Plan and execute automation upgrades in sync with production schedules
  • Provide technical expertise on projects involving control systems and digital infrastructure
  • Align solutions with company standards and maintain documentation
  • Participate in audits and support change control activities
  • Contribute to SOPs and process improvements using Lean and Six Sigma tools
  • Ensure work complies with safety, quality, and environmental standards
  • Support global and site-level IT and automation initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or related field (Diploma with strong experience may be considered)
  • Solid experience in automation, within areas of process manufacturing, utilities, or packaging
  • Familiarity with technologies such as PLC, DCS/SCADA, MES, SAP, Oracle, and MS SQL
  • Experience with warehouse automation systems is a plus
  • Strong planning, problem-solving, and project execution skills
