JOB DESCRIPTION
Frontier communications is seeking a Project Manager Engineer to join our Fiber to the Cell (FTTC) and Dark Fiber (DF) Build Team. The ideal candidate will manage the Build of large, complex FTTC/DF solutions for multiple carriers. Solutions may include equipment and network ISP & OSP projects. The Project Manager's decisions and actions are critical to the realization of financial and operational goals and customer satisfaction. The Project Manager's mission is to manage projects to completion on time, within budget, and meet or exceed customer expectations and quality standards that deliver consistently superior services to wireless carriers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Defines project scope through detailed planning; identifies total impact on internal organization/processes, including the internal impact of multiple projects on core resources, establishes project team, project objectives and responsibilities, identifies dependencies, assesses potential risks, and establishes an implementation schedule.
- Develops project schedules and maintains milestones and status in the FTTC database.
- Maintain communication with customers for project schedule and status.
- Provides period updates to projects to sales and service team members and leaders.
- Establishes and maintains communication with team members, vendors, contractors, and other departments throughout project planning and implementation.
- Manages the implementation of the project against the committed schedule, coordinating team members and vendors/contractor efforts. Ensures projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Records all accountability activities by department and lead team members in MS Project/Teams – if/when applicable
- Assures completion and acceptance and transfer of responsibility to other departments by issuing E2E Completion Notice when the Build phase completes.
- Maintain a single point of contact with the customer providing status via scheduled meetings, phone calls & emails with attached documents
- Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Communicate with all levels of the company for project status.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams and MS Office.
- Customer driven and a team player, with strong interpersonal and customer interface skills including "influence management" and "conflict resolution".
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, process and detail-oriented, a self-starter who is highly motivated to obtain goals/results.
- Candidate must excel in communication/presentation skills, both oral and written, and tailor communication to various levels of the organization.
- Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of executives, managers and subject matter experts
- Must be able to work and prioritize in a fast-paced changing environment while coordinating multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear and concise project documentation
- Effectively manages client expectations and escalations
- Ability to work either independently and/or as part of a larger team.
- Ability to think logically in solving assigned problems and to present recommendations with clarity in written and graphic form.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage technical professionals
- Strong interpersonal skills including team building, coaching and mentoring
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years as a Project Manager
- Telephony knowledge including data networks, internet protocol and networking
- Ability to learn and understand complicated technical concepts
- A thorough understanding of project management principles.
