Communications Associate

The Communications Associate will support marketing and communications initiatives and day-to-day projects across Road to Hire. The Communications Associate should be a creative thinker and strong written/visual storyteller, motivated by creating opportunities for underrepresented young adults in our communities. 

A successful candidate for this role will be a self-starter with excellent organizational and communication skills who can balance a myriad of priorities and projects. The ideal candidate is excited to roll up their sleeves and engage in a variety of projects to best support the mission, vision and brand of Road to Hire. 

This is a full-time role that may require occasional weekends or evenings

What You'll Do:

• Support and lead key internal and external communication initiatives across R2H. Examples include but are not limited to: newsletter creation, presentations design support, drafting and deploying internal communications, and website copy and design. 
• Leveraging Canva or similar design programs, create templates, documents, design elements and more across teams to help empower R2H staff and advance its work
• Assist in the successful execution of dynamic events, innovative programming and new initiatives with varying needs ranging from planning to coordinating logistics
• Support the success of social media efforts, including insight into trends, analytics and content creation
• Contribute to basic layout, typography and photography needs and decisions, as needed
• General support in copywriting, editing, visual and video projects needs
• Additional and ongoing marketing and communications support as needed

What We're Looking For:

• Professional and/or internship experience working in Marketing/Communications, including design, creative content creation and written projects
• Experience working with the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva required
• Bonus if you have video editing skills and/or experience
• A creative thinker with strong written and oral communication skills 
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Able to balance and successfully complete multiple priorities, projects and tasks simultaneously from start to end
• Must be flexible and work with pivots and short deadlines
• Values feedback: Seeks out and delivers feedback for continuous improvement
• Able to efficiently and effectively solve problems, initiate and implement projects independently
• Displays the confidence, professional presence and a proactive mindset
• Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
• Eager to learn new things and can have fun while doing it
• Passionate about supporting great communications work for a dynamic nonprofit
• Excited about a hybrid work schedule with at least 3 days a week (we are in person Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in our Ft. Mill, SC office).

This role requires a hybrid schedule and will be based in our South Charlotte, NC Headquarters (Tuesday through Thursday) and work fully remotely on Mondays and Fridays each week.
