We are looking for a highly motivated Health & Safety Intern to join our team. The intern will assist in promoting and ensuring a safe working environment by supporting the Health and Safety team in implementing safety programs, conducting audits, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. This role offers a hands-on learning opportunity for individuals interested in workplace safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

  • On-site role

  • Location: Charlotte, NC (DP World does not offer accommodations for internships)

  • Strong performance could lead to a full-time position after graduation

  • 10-week program that will run from June 2026 to August 2026

  • Department: HSSE

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assist in conducting safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations

  • Support the team in developing, reviewing, and updating health and safety policies, procedures, and training materials

  • Help coordinate and facilitate safety training sessions for employees on topics such as proper use of equipment, emergency procedures, and hazard communication

  • Participate in incident investigations, helping to gather data and identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences

  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of safety audits, training logs, incident reports, and safety performance metrics

  • Work closely with different departments to promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement

  • Research new safety regulations, best practices, and industry standards to ensure the company remains compliant with evolving health and safety laws

  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills, ensuring procedures are well communicated and practiced across the organization

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field from an accredited university

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous internship or work experience in a health and safety role or related field

  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, environmental health regulations, and safety compliance requirements

  • Familiarity with incident reporting software or safety management systems
