Position Summary:The Shift Supervisor is responsible for managing the safe operations of the Samuel Billings Center during a scheduled shift by supporting/leading staff on duty, delegating daily tasks, and ensuring work is carried out to an acceptably high standard.

  • Human Resource responsibilities to include recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations, and terminations to ensure a productive and compliant workforce.

  • Train staff in essential duties and responsibilities. Provide continued monitoring of that performance and documentation to ensure compliance with state/agency guidelines.

  • Display positivity and a willingness to encourage team morale, to include appropriate display of verbal/body language.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with policies and procedures. Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules and regulations.
  • Respond in a leadership capacity to emergency crisis situations related to client and staff safety.
  • Assist with admissions and transition/discharges as needed.
  • Provide and monitor services to ensure compliance with state/agency guidelines.
  • Provide information about center services to new hires, clients, visitors, and community partners.
  • Complete intake screenings and ensure clients are appropriate, using ASAM criteria, for admission in accordance to all state/agency guidelines. Refer/transition clients to appropriate level of care when needed.
  • Consult with nursing and other clinical staff when evaluating client physical/mental health.
  • Complete admissions/transitions when needed, to include securing and signing out all client possessions and medications in accordance to State/agency guidelines.
  • Submit authorizations for services when needed.
  • Assist clients in identifying and overcoming barriers to their recovery. Conduct groups/individual discussions with clients when appropriate.
  • Administer medications to clients as needed, per providers orders, in absence of or along with nurse (training required).
  • Complete UDS screenings as needed.
  • Facilitate shift reports and communicate information related to client care to staff members during and across shifts.
  • Complete and submit incident reports when appropriate in accordance to state/agency guidelines.
  • Enter client data into electronic record according to established standards and monitor documentation for compliance with State/agency/Federal regulations.
  • Participate in QA and QI activities as assigned. Ensure the timely completion of out of compliance items. Conduct Peer review when assigned.
  • Must be able and willing to perform role of staff that they lead during shift, as needed.
  • Facilitate family involvement in clients' recovery.
  • Provides ongoing supervision and performance management to client specialists in accordance with agency policies.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, irregular or protracted hours. Ability to stay over, come in early, or work a different shift than assigned to meet the business need of covering unexpected staff outages to be in compliance with state staff ratio requirements.
  • Attends staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education andexperience. Supervisor experience preferred. Must meet criteria for qualified professional and/or pursue and maintain certification with the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board.
