Our energy client is seeking a Communications Account Manager to oversee the development and execution of strategic communications initiatives. This role ensures brand and message consistency across multiple channels while aligning communications with broader corporate strategies. The ideal candidate is a collaborative strategist with strong client relationship skills and a deep understanding of integrated marketing communications.

This is a project opportunity until February 2028 working on a hybrid basis in Charlotte or Raleigh, NC.

Communications Account Manager Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary account manager and communications strategist for Advertising, Brand, and Creative Communications initiatives.
  • Partner with internal clients to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive communications plans that align with business objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with Corporate Communications and other internal stakeholders to support planning and measurement activities.
  • Act as the main point of contact for assigned clients, overseeing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients by understanding their business goals, challenges, and audiences.
  • Collaborate with Creative Services teams (copywriters, designers, and others) to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality execution of campaigns.
  • Partner with Digital Communications teams to optimize online marketing channels and ensure adherence to best practices and processes.
  • Provide secondary account management support during storm or crisis situations, typically 1–2 months per year.

Communications Account Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in account management, preferably within advertising, branding, or marketing communications.
  • Proven experience developing and managing integrated campaigns (e.g., print, digital, social, radio, video).
  • Strong analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint).
  • Experience using a work management platform (e.g., Workamajig) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and provide strategic communication counsel.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Experience in the
    energy industry
    or familiarity with
    Kanban principles
    is a plus.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime (approximately 10–15% annually) to support special projects or crisis response.
