We help clients navigate services that promote recovery, stability, and independence.
Position Overview
The Intake & Eligibility Specialist serves as the first point of contact for new clients, ensuring that every applicant is screened, verified, and enrolled into the most appropriate program. This role bridges compassionate engagement with administrative precision — verifying eligibility, coordinating documentation, and initiating services efficiently and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial intake calls and in-person interviews with potential clients.
- Assess program eligibility based on income, insurance (Medicaid, Medicare, or private), and service criteria.
- Collect and verify all required documentation (IDs, proof of income, benefits, etc.).
- Enter and maintain accurate client data in the electronic health record and intake management system.
- Coordinate with case managers, therapists, and billing to ensure smooth admission workflows.
- Explain program expectations, services, and confidentiality requirements to clients.
- Follow up with referral sources (hospitals, shelters, DFCS, probation, etc.) to confirm client readiness.
- Track and report on pending applications and admissions metrics weekly.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, DBHDD, and payer eligibility rules.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (Bachelor's in Human Services, Social Work, or Healthcare Administration preferred).
- At least 1 year of experience in healthcare, social services, or insurance eligibility verification.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance eligibility processes.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, professional demeanor with trauma-informed sensitivity.
- Ability to manage high call volume and multiple client files simultaneously.
Preferred
- Familiarity with EHR systems, Availity, GAMMIS, or similar portals.
- Knowledge of Georgia Medicaid and national behavioral health programs.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, or ASL) is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly rate: $19–$24/hour
- Paid training, growth opportunities, and performance bonuses.
- Health and dental benefits (after probationary period).
- Supportive, mission-driven team culture.
Why Join ME Living
- Be part of a compassionate team helping individuals overcome crisis and rebuild stability.
- Gain hands-on experience in behavioral health, eligibility, and housing programs.
