SAP CPI Integration consultant

Job Overview

Own end-to-end integrations on SAP Integration Suite (CPI/Cloud Integration) for a beverage manufacturer/distributor. You'll design, build, test, and operate iFlows that connect S/4HANA/ECC with retail/distributor EDI partners, e-commerce, TMS/WMS, planning, and quality/traceability systems—meeting high throughput, peak-season resilience, and strict lot/batch compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Discovery & Design

• Run integration discovery workshops; turn business scenarios into canonical interface specs and mapping rules.
• Author HLD/LLD, sequence diagrams, data dictionaries, and error-handling patterns.
• Define payload contracts (JSON/XML/IDoc), API specs (OData/REST/SOAP), and re-usable integration templates.

Build (CPI / Integration Suite)

• Develop iFlows using adapters: IDoc, OData, SOAP, SFTP, HTTP, JDBC, AS2, Kafka/Event Mesh.
• Implement transformations (XSLT/Message Mapping), routings, content modifiers, and Groovy/JavaScript scripts.
• Set up secure connectivity (Cloud Connector, OAuth2/SAML, TLS mTLS, PGP), keystores, and partner profiles.
• Package and transport content via TMS/CTS+; version with Git where applicable.

Retail/Distributor EDI & Partner Connectivity

• Build and support X12 flows (850, 855, 860, 856, 810, 940/945, 943/944, 204/214/210) and GS1 barcoding needs.
• Coordinate VAN/AS2 setup, MDN handling, acknowledgements (997/999), and replay/retry strategies.

Operational Excellence

• Configure monitoring/alerting (message monitoring, custom alerts, CPI APIs), dashboards, and runbooks.
• Establish SLAs, throughput/latency targets, peak-load and failover plans for seasonal spikes.
• Manage secrets/keys rotation and audit/compliance artifacts.

Testing & Cutover

• Define test strategy (unit, mapping, E2E, partner certification, performance).
• Build test data harnesses and simulate partner traffic.
• Plan cutover, data backfill, and smoke testing; support hypercare.

Data & Domain Scenarios (Beverage)

• Order-to-Cash: retailer portals, marketplace/e-comm, DSD, price lists/promos, chargebacks.
• Plan & Deliver: IBP/Demand, TMS/WMS integration, carrier status, ASN/SSCC labels.
• Quality & Traceability: batch/lot, best-by, COA, recalls, FSMA-style trace events.
• Master Data: product/pack hierarchies, UOM, GTIN/UPC, customers/ship-to, routes.

Required Qualifications

• 6–10+ years integration experience; 5+ years hands-on with SAP CPI/Cloud Integration.
• Strong with IDoc/ALE, OData/REST/SOAP, XSLT/Graphical Mapping, Groovy scripting.
• Proven delivery of X12/EDIFACT integrations (retail/distributor) and AS2/SFTP setups.
• SAP back-end knowledge: S/4HANA or ECC (SD/MM/LE; bonus: TM, EWM).
• Security & networking: OAuth2/mTLS/PGP, firewalls, reverse proxies, Cloud Connector.
• CI/CD and transports (TMS/CTS+), release management, and documentation discipline.
• Excellent stakeholder & partner-onboarding skills; vendor coordination.

Nice to Have

• API Management, Event Mesh, Open Connectors experience.
• Grocers/CPG/Bev partner onboarding (Walmart, Costco, Kroger, Target, major distributors).
• Performance tuning for high-volume 850/856/810 flows.
• Observability (Splunk/ELK/CloudWatch), and incident/Problem Mgmt (ITIL).
• Exposure to QM/Batch processes, SSCC/GTL labels, GS1, GDSN.
• Azure/AWS integration services, Kafka, or MuleSoft/Boomi background.
• Partner onboarding lead time reduced by ≥30%.
• Documented reusable patterns and a supported integration catalog.

• 850 → Sales Order (S/4 SD) with price/allowance mapping and UoM normalization.
• Order Status/855 and Change/860 sync back to trading partners.
• ASN/856 + SSCC generation with label event publication to WMS/TMS.
• 810 Invoice with tax/freight/chargeback logic and remittance references.
• Inventory/846 to key retailers and marketplace feeds.
• Carrier 214 status to customer portals; 204/210 for tendering and billing.
• Master Data (MATMAS/DEBMAS/PRICAT) distribution with data quality checks.
